Surveying

GBNS Partnership is UKAS accredited to undertake asbestos surveys which are fully compliant with HSG 264 "Asbestos: The survey guide" (January 2010) and Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.

Our in-house quality control system meets the requirements of EN ISO/IEC17020 and EN ISO/IEC170250 on all building types and all types of surveys including pre-demolition or major refurbishment works which will help prevent possible building closures, prosecution and damage to health.   With GBNS you know you will be in safe hands to receive the asbestos survey you require to assist you in the management of asbestos in buildings.

Material and priority assessments are carried out on site to help create the survey reports/registers and enables GBNS to help devise the right management plan for our customer. Risk assessments are carried out prior to and during all surveys and our comprehensive reports are supplied in electronic format, as well as being accompanied by a hard-copy version, if required.

GBNS provides the two main types of asbestos surveys set out in HSG 264 (previously 3 in MDHS 100) for domestic, commercial and industrial premises.

Management Survey - (previously Type 1 /2) Standard sampling, identification and assessment survey.

Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition. Samples may be taken to verify the content of the material.

The survey will be fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach. A refurbishment and demolition survey may also be required in other circumstances, eg when more intrusive maintenance and repair work will be carried out or for plant removal or
dismantling..
